I’m so excited to welcome you and your swimmer to another great Wahoos season! </span> </p> <p> <span> <span> A little about me: I’ve been part of the Y’s Aquatics Department for </span> </span> <strong> 20 years </strong> <span> , starting as a swim instructor and lifeguard while I was in college. I’ve been the Aquatics Director since 2022. </span> </p> <p> <span> <span> And here’s a fun fact—you might be surprised to learn that </span> </span> <strong> I was NOT a competitive swimmer growing up! </strong> <span> <span> I was heavily involved in 4-H with my family’s horses and sheep, and I played clarinet and bass clarinet in my high school marching band. I’ve always loved the water, though, so I guess it was only a matter of time before aquatics became such a big part of my life! </span> </span> </p> <p> <span> <span> My husband and I actually met </span> </span> <strong> 18 years ago right here at the Y—as lifeguards! </strong> <span> <span> He grew up as a competitive swimmer, as did his sister, so swimming has definitely become a family affair. He’s also an Army veteran and celebrated 25 years in the Army last year. We have two kids: an almost-16-year-old daughter who loves competitive dance and a 12-year-old son who plays travel hockey. </span> </span> </p> <p> <span> When I’m not at the Y, I’m also a Girl Scout leader and still get to play bass clarinet with a summer wind ensemble.
